FINAL PLACINGS DECIDED BY LAST MATCH

The destination of the trophy was decided by the result of the final match in the competition, between Middlesex and Essex at Rectory Park on Wednesday, 13th March.
The game lived up to expectations and provided a memorable finish to the competition. Middlesex went ahead in the first minute, through Ashley Cheatley and despite Essex having more possession, had increased their lead to 3-0, with a goal from Shakira Roberts and another from Ashley, before the interval.
Middlesex added 2 more goals in quick succession early in the second half, through Rebekah Higgins and Ashley Cheatley, completing her hattrick.
Undeterred, Essex started to reel in Middlesex’s lead and scored through Daisy Canny. twice and Laura Bunton, to make the final score 5-3 to Middlesex. It is open to conjecture what might have happened if time hadn’t run out.
The result meant that Middlesex won the title, with the Army as runners-up.
