NEWDIGATE UTD OVERCOME PREMIER LEAGUE leaders DRAYTON in the TRIBUNE CHALLENGE CUP !
Newdigate United execute stunning giant killing to progress in the Tribune Cup.
NUNEATON TROPHIES LEAGUE 3 new boys Newdigate United produced arguably the biggest cup upset of the season so far at Stockingford Pavilion, as goals from Ethan Wood and James Lloyd saw them dispatch Premier League leaders Drayton 2-1. Jack Boffin added Drayton’s goal on 80 minutes to set up a nervy last 10 minutes but the League 3 boys held on and progress to the next stage.
Another Premier League team to be shown the door by lower league opposition was Ambleside who were beaten 3-0 to NDSFL LEAGUE 1 pacesetters Haunchwood Sports. Mark Williams, Simeon Townsend and Jack Webb with the goals.
Weddington Athletic of LEAGUE 3 saw off in form Acorn of LEAGUE 2 with a 3-0 win thanks to Adrian Talbot’s brace and a single from Ewan Davies.
There was to be no upset over in Witherley though, as Witherley United got past a brave effort from Bedworth Ex-Servicemen. 2 from Shaun Clarke and a Kieran Graham strike enough to see them home 3-0.
Frank Parker are into the next round after a 4-2 win away to MARK BLAIR FINANCE LEAGUE 2 side Ashby Road Sports. Jack Archer with 2 and singles from Liam Potter and Sahel Yessan with Parker’s goals. Carr Craddock and John West replying for Ashby Road.
An all Hinckley tie saw Conny United face Athletico Duke at Sapcote Playing Fields. Goals from Jake Norman, Jack Joyce and Ellis Green enough to send The Duke through 3-2. Jude Almey and Oli Menzies on target for Conny.
A repeat of last years LEAGUE 3 Divisional Cup Final saw Bermuda Park host Desford-Caterpillar. Much like last seasons final it was a closely contested game with Bermuda Park extracting their revenge to win 5-4. Steven Pywell scored a hat-trick with singles from Cameron Greenhough and Arron Knight getting the job done. Noel Gilbert, Callum Beckwith, Chris Neal and Joe Neal with the Desford goals.
Danny Harris scored the only goal of the game in an all PREMIER LEAGUE tie as Poplar beat Griff and Coton Manor 1-0.
Saunders Hall are another team through, goals from Kane Robinson’s brace and goals for Stephen Gibson-Hill, Matthew Crowshaw and Ashley Clark saw them past Bedworth Bank 5-1. Josh Hood scored the Bank goal.
Grendon picked up a 4-0 win over Phoenix United thanks to goals from Paul Tyler, Dave Tonks, Joe Gilks and Daniel Douglas.
Over in League action, Barwell Cricketers went 2nd in NDSFL LEAGUE 1 with a 3-2 win over Ambleside Reserves after Ben Waters scored a brace with Connor Beasley adding the single. Lee Wilkins and Luke Wilkins scored for Ambleside.
Hearty Goodfellow were 2-0 winners over Bedworth Liberal in NDSFL LEAGUE 1 as Rio Ginnelly and Danny Moreton hit the target to earn them 3 points.
Goals from Josh Cooper,
George Arnold, Matt Hall and Steve Hall’s brace was enough to earn Crows Nest Sports a 5-1 at Sunnyside in MARK BLAIR FINANCE LEAGUE 2. Jagtar Mander scored the Sunnyside goal.
Over in NUNEATON TROPHIES LEAGUE 3, Lamb and Flag picked up a 7-0 win over Anchor Inn (Hartshill). 2 goals from Thomas Southwell and singles from Adam Nelmes, Jude Barnett, George Simmons, Jack Starkey and Bradley Bates with the goals.
SS Bulls Head remain 100% and returned to the top of the league after beating Attleborough Sports 8-1. Hat-tricks for Ryan Brightwell and Jarrod Stone and a Josh Atkinson brace with the goals. Luke Underhill scored the Attleborough consolation.
Danny Winterbotham and Riley Poxon scored 2 each with Dylan Cooper adding the other as Rumour Mill (Barwell) overcame Hearty Goodfellow Reserves 5-0 at Paul’s Land to go 2nd.
