Witherley United become fourth team to hit top spot in a very open Premier League race
Witherley United returned to action for the first time since opening weekend and a 7-0 win over Haunchwood Sports was enough to send them to the top of the table in ANCHOR INN (HARTSHILL) - PREMIER LEAGUE.
They become the fourth team to occupy top spot after Drayton, Hearty Goodfellow and Ambleside who have all had their hands on the top spot. Alex Taylorson scored 2 and singles from Kieran Graham, Ben Brookes, Jack Price, Luke Taylor and Shaun Clarke saw the job done for Witherley.
Brady Middleton came off the bench to score twice for Ambleside, who now occupy 2nd place thanks to a 5-1 win over Coniston Tavern. Matthew Hart, Leo Franklin and Sol McCann completed the Ambleside scoring. Ross Proudlock scored for Coniston Tavern.
Jack Bonnell and Jack Boffin scored the goals to earn Drayton a 2-1 win over Hearty Goodfellow in a very close game. Drayton took the lead before Rio Ginnelly equalised for Hearty. Taylor Moreton made several great saves in the Hearty goal but Drayton managed to grab the winner midway through the second half.
Athletico Duke’s 100% start to the season game to an end at the hands of Barwell Cricketers in TRIPLE R PAINTWORX LTD LEAGUE ONE. Goals from Matt Pratt, Chris Neal and Jimmy Graham were enough to earn the Cricketers a 3-1 win. Brayson York scored for The Duke who remain in 2nd place with a game in hand.
That paved the way for Ex-Servicemen Bedworth to reopen the gap at the top of the they picked up a 2-1 win over Bedworth Poppy's to capitalise. Kielan Thackeray and Danny Taylor scored the goals for Servicemen. Dom Bonner replied for Poppy's.
Lewis Collins hit a brace for Drayton Reserves and Jack Edwards the other as they managed to beat Griff and Coton Manor 3-2. Cameron Greenhough and Badru Rajab were on target for Griff who remain 3rd, a point in front of their opponents.
Travs left it late to claim a 2-1 win over Hinckley Wanderers in MARK BLAIR FINANCE LEAGUE TWO. It took an 89th minute winner from Craig Harrison to keep Travs perfect start in tact. Paul Brown scored the other Travs goal. Joe Silcock scored for Hinckley Wanderers who were unfortunate not to leave with a point.
Newdigate United closed the gap on their opponents White Horse Atherstone with an 8-2 win. Tom Noon, Kai Smith and James Lloyd all scored 2. The singles came from Sam Leary and Dlaine James. Jordan Coles and Ryan Potter scored for White Horse who remain 2nd, a place in front of Newdigate in 3rd.
Conny United have had an impressive start to the season and only goal difference keeps them off 3rd place. Dan Hendrie hit 4 for the Sapcote boys who beat Ambleside Reserves 7-4. George Iliffe, Zion Bray and Kyle Franklin scored the others. Lee Wilkins hit a brace for Ambleside with Owen Courtman and Wasim Rashid adding the others.
Grendon sit top of NUNNEATON TROPHIES LEAGUE THREE as they were 4-0 winners over SS Bulls Head. Jack Burrows, Lewis Landers, Dave Boal and Paul Tyler scored the goals for Grendon.
Chetwynd Chess now occupy 2nd place after 2 goals each for Sam Bircher and Simeon Townsend ensured they beat Acorn 4-3. Alex Chinn was on hand with a brace of his own for Acorn and Ben Thomson scored the other.
Down at the other end of the table, Crows Nest Sports and Horseshoes played out a 1-1 draw. Steve Hall scored the Crows Nest goal with Ben Franklin adding the Horseshoes goal.
Bedworth Eagles continued their impressive start to their first campaign in RICHARD DUNN LEAGUE FOUR. They edged out Lord Nelson to win 5-4 and go 3 points clear at the top of the table.
Jamie McNamara, Axel Edie, Harrison Ola, Brandon Dryburgh and Liam Holmes scored for the high flying eagles. Kieran McCurley, Aidan Sanders, Lewis Such and Bryn Cove scored the Lord Nelson goals.
Lamb and Flag beat Bedworth Liberal 2-1 to climb to 2nd place thanks to a double from George Simmons. William Roe scores for The Libs who slip to 4th.
Alex Lock scored twice for Attleborough Royal Oak to help them on their way to a 7-0 win over Sunnyside Inn. Kane Leeson, Scott Hall, Jacob Brian, Daniel Richardson and Harvey Brown scored the goals to send Attleborough 3rd.
George Whalley, Harry Johnson and Matt Snow scores the goals to earn FC Burbage a 3-0 win over Ex-Servicemen Bedworth Reserves. The win sees Burbage climb to 5th place.
Attleborough Sports picked up their first win of the season thanks to a brace from Arron Kemp. Taylor Wallbank and Joe Wing scored the other Sports goals as they went on to win 4-0 over Griff and Coton Manor Reserves.
County FA Cup games kicked off for the 2024/25 season.
Hearty Goodfellow Reserves were beaten 4-0 at the hands of Bordesley Rovers Athletic in the Birmingham Amateur Cup, with Sunnyside Inn (Nuneaton) going down 5-0 at the hands of Hatton FC.
Swan Dive were edged out 3-2 by St John’s Rangers. Ashley Gilder and Jaiden Thompson scored for Swan Dive.
Over in the Leicestershire Intermediate Cup, only Ashby Road Sports were able to progress from the first round action as Craig Chatburn, Ciaran Hughes and Carr Craddock scored the goals to beat Bulls Head Countersthorpe 3-1.
Burbage and Huncote were beaten 3-1 by Kings Arms. Sam Blower with the Burbage and Huncote goal.
Adam Waters scored 2 for The Wharf Inn but they ended up losing 5-4 to Bardon Hill Juniors. Richard Durose and Ben Spencer scored the others.
Red Lion Barwell were another side to narrowly lose as they were beaten 3-2 by Dukla First. Danny Winterbotham and Joe Randle scored The Lion goals.
