Review of games played on 28/04.

The rain stopped just before the kick off in the nine games played but the main concern for the teams for the next ninety minutes was the goals ‘raining’ into the back of their nets. In total twenty eight ended up in the home goal, but it was a ‘downpour’ in the away end with fifty eight goals being ‘leaked’.

The game of the day was in the Premier Division between Offerton Green and Stretford Vics, the winners would become runners up to champions Newall Green. Stretford started off the better team Offy’s keeper Richie Torkington had to be on his toes to keep out two efforts from Jonny Blomely, and was glad to see Kam Ali’s shot go wide of the far post. But with third time lucky Blomely found away to beat Torkington and give his side the lead. It looked as if the Vics would keep it until half time but two goals in sixty seconds by Henry Jackson just before the break changed the scene. His first came when Vic’s keeper Matthew Jones made a hash of a clearance allowing Jackson to find the vacant net. His second was too strong for the keeper to hold. A confidence booster from their manager at half time saw Vics draw level with Kam Ali’s goal. But their joy ended there because Offy’s ‘Butler’ served up a triple whammy. Luke Butler put Offy back in front with his first goal and before the final whistle was blown helped himself to a hat trick.

In Division One the home teams scored thirty goals to the visitors four. Mountfield Rovers carry on their winning run by hitting six goals past Sto. Cosmos scoring three times in each half the double act of Bobby Smith and Lucas Berry causing problems to the Cosmos defence throughout the game. Berry scoring twice in the first half his first from a Smith pass then a Joe Siemasko assist for his second. Siemasko then found Dan Street at the far post who headed home the third goal. The nightmare continued for the visitors. The Smith Berry duo relentless in their quest for more goals, ending in the latter scoring all three second half goals with the help of, you know who. Cosmos’s lone reply was from the penalty spot.

Stockport County Supporters were three nil up at half time against Lostock Rangers. Ryan George set them off with a header from a Luke Andrew cross. Josh Guiver was upended in the Lostock area scored from the spot, then not long after Nathan Thomas was fouled so Guiver again found the back of the net with his second penalty. Keeping up the pressure in the second half Chris Aspinall toe poked home the fourth. Luke Andrew made it five nil and sixty seconds later it was six nil with a Karl Atkinson goal. A Nathan Thomas lobbed shot bounced over the keeper seven nil. Lostock replied with their sole effort scored by Jamie Cooper. Luke Andrew ended the scoring with his second success.

Bramhall hit double figures in their home game with Man & Chorlton.
Division Two leaders Hillgate were frustrated in the first half and trailing to a goal to nil at home to Hr. Poynton whose goalkeeper Jack Chignell at times helped with a bit of luck kept them at bay. It was Tate Dawson from a Matt Tonks pass who put Poynton in front with a shot from the edge of the area. Hillgate drew level somehow Adam Gardiner, managed to squeeze home his header from the narrowest of angles off Liam Fitzpatrick’s far post cross. At the other end only a tremendous save by Leyton Brigano denied Marcus Graham an equaliser. Hillgate applied the pressure and went on to collect the three points with two goals from Brad Snape, the first a shot from the edge of the box, his second a neat 1x2 with Adam Gardiner.

Edgeley Villa hit double figures without reply in their home game with Bosden Farm Rovers. The in-form Howie Thomas-Leech opened the scoring, he then turned provider finding Sean Egan who cheekily back heeled the ball home. From a good move Regan scoring a bit more orthodox added his second. Showing his versatility he completed his hat trick from the penalty spot. it was a welcome return for Jack Atkinson who had been out of the game through injury for eight months heading home Jordan Cunningham’s corner kick. Within a minute of coming on Ollie Burgess nets Villa’s sixth. The goals still flowed Thomas-Leech gets his second. Not to be outdone, Burgess gets his second from a Nathan Richard pass. Callum Boyle nets his first goal of the season. A defensive mix up in the Bosden area presents Atkinson the chance for his second goal. A run, from inside his own half by Oli Burgess, ended the scoring with his hat trick goal.

Stockport Vikings beat Didsbury Reds 5-0 and Railway FC hit double figures away at Woodhouse Park,
