Week ending 14th September by Mason Norton

This week in the Everards Brewery Premier Division, Desford stay top of the table, but had to come from behind at home to Leicester Atletico, who took the lead in the first half through Mohamed Hogsade. Desford didn't get back onto level terms until the hour mark, when Mac Parnell scored the equaliser, before Tom Vyce put them in the lead with 15 minutes remaining, before Parnell sealed the deal with his second in the late stages, Desford winning 3-1. Goals from Zak Harris and Jordan Small in the first half gave Anstey Town a 2-0 win at home to Magna 73, Anstey staying second. 
Meanwhile, Aylestone Park Reserves took advantage of Hathern's week on the sidelines, slipping into third after a hard-fought 4-3 win at home to Highfield Rangers, Evan Kane and Bayem Onelum both bagging braces for the hosts, Raijaun Morris-Laing (2) and Seon Shippley responding for the visitors. Thurnby Rangers missed out on the chance to go third after they lost 1-0 at home to AFC North Kilworth, Joe Williams scoring the only goal in the second half. 
The bottom of the table got a bit more interesting after both of the bottom sides recorded their first win of the campaign. Burbage & Huncote went in 2-0 up at half-time against Ellistown thanks to a double from Josh Wright. Ellistown improved in the second half, and a late goal from Jack Bonell set up a nervy finish for the hosts, but B&H held on to win 2-1. 
They thought that was enough to take them off the foot of the table, only for the result at Knighton Lane to come in later on, breaking the news that Friar Lane & Epworth had also picked up their first points, beating FC Khalsa 2-1 thanks to goals from Llyas Boumehdi and Ryan Rowley, Garwinder Bangh replying for Khalsa. Cottesmore thought they were also coming away with three points after Josh Clark's long-range free-kick ensured they were 1-0 up at half-time, but Tom Pope and Conner Packwood scored in the second half to give Sileby a 2-1 win, which enabled them to keep the relegation dogfight at a distance. 
So the situation at the bottom is Burbage & Huncote still propping up the table, behind Friar Lane & Epworth by one goal on goal difference, and eight goals behind Cottesmore, all three sides on three points, with Ellistown only three points above them and starting to look nervously over the shoulder. Due to Asfordby's resignation before the opening day (but after the AGM), only one team will be relegated at the season's end. 
The Premier Division now takes a break for the first round of the Everards Tiger League Cup- the only game next weekend in the Prem pits two sides who received byes against each other, as Hathern host Aylestone Park Reserves.
