Storms caused havoc with the first round of the Everards Tiger League Cup in September, and Storm Bert arrived just in time to cause issues with the second, as ties at Hathern, Loughborough Dynamo and Ellistown all bit the dust. The first two have been rescheduled for next Saturday, and the Ellistown tie has been pencilled in for 11 December.
The five ties that did go ahead all pitted Premier Division teams against Div2 sides, and two of them provided upsets. Biggest of the lot came at Whetstone, where Whetstone Athletic caught Cottesmore cold- in fact, very cold, as the Div2 side romped to a 10-0 victory. Scorers were Harvey Coulson with a hat-trick, Jacob Makepeace with a brace, Kai Herbert, Ryan Richmond, Jacob Smith and subs Lewis Garner and Ben Smith. Another upset came at Great Glen, where Glen Villa beat Magna 73 4-2, James Bonser, Ben Mason, George Parker and James Parker for Glen, Mitchell Dublin and an OG for Magna.
There was almost an upset at Aylestone Park, where holders Aylestone Park Reserves faced Community Football Academy. Park went in 2-0 up at half-time, but 2 goals within six minutes of the restart put Community back on level terms. Park though found a way to breach the defence again, and held on to win 3-2, Bayem Onelum (2) and Hayden Stephens for Park, Mohamed Mahir and Curtis Radbourne for Community.
It was more straightforward for Premier Division leaders Desford, who beat Hinckley Borough 5-0, Louis Rood (2), Connor McGahan, Charlie Jones and Mac Parnell on the scoresheet, whilst Thurnby Rangers won 4-2 at Rothley Imperial, Connor King scoring for Thurnby in the first half, before Alfie Mansell scored a second half brace. Harry Toon and Mitchell Harris both found the back of the net to give Rothley hope, but a late strike from sub Devon Jackman booked Thurnby's berth in the quarter-finals.
