Our congratulations are extended to Multiple Scorgasms, who secured the Division A title in style this week, on goal difference alone, with a fantastic 10-0 final day win against Let’s B Having U, although we were deprived of a truly great finale as in somewhat unfortunate circumstances, the team level on points with them going into the final week, FC Nice Guy, were not allowed the chance to control their own destiny as Manm FC failed to turn up meaning FC Nice Guy only picked up a 3-0 walkover win, where in normal circumstances, they could possibly have done more. The only solace we can offer is that Multiple won both “head to head” encounters, so if the rules were different, the outcome would remain.

WE WOULD HOWEVER TAKE THIS MOMENT TO REMIND TEAMS THEY OWE IT NOT JUST TO THEMSELVES BUT TO THE OTHER TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE TO TRY AND REMAIN COMPETITIVE THROUGHOUT A FULL SEASON.

FROM NEXT SEASON, WALKOVER WIN’S IN THE BROOMFIELDS THURSDAY SIXES WILL NOW BE RECORDED AS 5-0 WIN’s, A LEVEL WHICH WE BELIEVE MAY REFLECT THE AVERAGE OF GOALS SCORED IN GAMES, MORE FAIRLY.

Also in Division A, Hardcore FC, managed to extract themselves from a potential relegation issue with a superb 6-2 win against high flying Swinebars, while The Hollow Tree picked up a walkover win when Lymm Villa dropped out of the league, but played one of our new teams Sweatbands & Sweaty Goals in a friendly.

Our Congratulations, in the toughest Division B battle for the title, we’ve seen in years, are extended to Das Boot, who made it ‘by the skin of their teeth’. Going into the final game with a three point advantage over AFC Wimbleblum, Das Boot just had to avoid defeat and this they did, drawing with Tazmanian Devils, who after spending most of the season in the bottom half of the table now finish fourth. AFC Wimbleblum did all they could, but in the end have to settle for second spot as they defeated third placed, The Hooners 4-2. Pughventus didn’t turn up for their match with already relegated Disposable Heroes, handing the latter a walkover win, which left Oscars Army needing a win against Young Guns to avoid the trap door to Division C. Much as they tried, the 1-1 stalemate that transpired wasn’t enough, but it pains me to report a 2-1 win would have been enough to keep Oscars Army up.

Judging by the results, nobody wanted the Division C title. Ultimately, it fell into the hands of last weeks leaders, Crown FC and of course they deserve our congratulations as well as our other Champions, but a final week 2-1 defeat at the hands of fourth placed Dusters FC is hardly the way to do it in style. Runners Up, FC Humbug could have, maybe should have snatched it but fell short, losing 3-2 to Dad’s Army, while even last week’s third placed Sporting Abeergut could have leapfrogged them all, but they turned up short of players and had to forfeit to Club 12 FC. The battle of the bottom, (sponsored by Andrex), left Ace Rimmers, nursing…….a wooden spoon, as Sandymoor Vets triumphed in an entertaining match 6-1.
