Basingstoke & District League Match Reports from Saturday 4th November, By Peter Raynbird.
Basingstoke Saturday League
Division One.
I was at Castle Fields to see hosts Bounty United lose 3-0 to Overton United A. Both teams had a share of the game, but in the end Overton deserved the points. Kicking down the slope Overton had more of the play and Bounty keeper Ricky Vinn did well to keep out a shot from Kyle Buckland, who was the visitors main threat and hit a great chance over he bar before they took the lead in the 25th minute. Buckland was the scorer when a corner taken by Matt Lowe fell to Andy Barfoot, his shot was blocked but fell to the Overton striker and Vinn had no chance in the crowded area. Within five minutes Bounty were two goals down when Vinn did well to a hand to the strike from Samie Aldodori just outside the penalty box, but it went in just inside the post. Bounty had more attacks in the second half with their latest new signing, ex DCUK man Jamie Ballantyne prominent, but missed a great chance when the ball flashed across some four yards from goal. Chances also fell to Stuart Austen, another DCUK addition, who shot over the bar from a Steve Bucksey corner and Jordon Willis should have done better with his opportunity. There was three minutes later when Overton caught them out on the break when a Buckland cross was put away by Matt Lowe.
Division Two
There was just the one match in Division Two and it brought three points for Twentyten Reserves on their visit to AFC Aldermaston A, a pretty easy 5-0 win. Adam Sawko was in much of the action for Twentyten when in the 10th minute he played Dan Hancock through for the opener. He then scored the second after Hancock was provider this time and by half time he had netted again for 3-0 lead. There was little resistance from the Aldermaston third string after the break and Franklin Spacagna scored the fourth after an assist from Sawko. The final goal came in the 75th minute, a solo effort by Joe Richards.
