Rainham WMC Edge Thriller on Penalties

After leading the game by two goals, Rainham were apparently coasting towards victory but they did not count on an amazing comeback in a fantastic match. It took Romstar until the 88th minute to equalize and by this time they were fully on top of the match. Once the game had gone to extra-time, only one team were making inroads and Romstar were keeping up the pressure. They got their rewards when they took a 3-2 lead, completing a great comeback but joy turned to despair as Simon Wenborn, a second half substitute became a hero yet again, scoring a sensational leveller to send the game into penalty kicks.

From this point, both keepers made superb saves, but Rainham leapt for joy when the last penalty in sudden death thundered against the bar to signal a stunning triumph in what has turned out to be one of the best finals on record.
