Basingstoke Junior ‘A’ Cup (Sponsored by Horizon Sound & Vision). Quarter Finals.

Tadley Calleva FC ‘A’ are through to the Semi Finals of the Basingstoke Junior ‘A’ Cup after beating Twentyten FC 2-0 at Barlows Park. Tadley will now meet the holders Hook FC in the Semi Finals, away from home on February 27th 2016. Twentyten FC had their chances in the first half, having two cleared off the line and a corner taken by Joe Osborne hitting the back post and rebounding clear. It was in the 29th minute when Tadley took the lead. A 40 yard pass from Stephen Burgess was picked up by Kyle Theodore; although there was a hint of offside, he went on to beat the keeper Jack Nicholson. In the 45th minute Joe Hill had a great chance to level when he was put clean through and rounded keeper Greg Harper only to shoot wide. In the 51st minute came the second. Lee Calcott with the cross and an error by Nicholson allowed Peter White to net easily. Twentyten kept battling away and only two good saves by Harper, both from Ryan Lupton stopped them equalizing.

Basingstoke Athletic FC also go through to the Semi Finals and will be playing Hampshire Irons FC at home in the other Semi Final, after beating Basingstoke Labour Club FC 2-0 at Brighton Hill. It took Athletic just 30 seconds to take the lead, Dale Bristow scoring with a wind assisted effort. Labour were outplayed in this game and were never in the hunt and Athletic made sure of going through when Ryan Evans scored number two following a corner kick.

North Hants DFA Saturday Junior Cup. First Round.

Herriard Sports FC were due to travel to Andover Lions FC Reserves in the First Round of the North Hants Junior Cup, but the tie was called off as this club are having difficulties and we await to see if the match is awarded to the Basingstoke league team.

TDI Group FC did manage to get their tie played against AFC Berg after it had been postponed the previous week and go through after winning 4-3 after a penalty shootout.
Dean Bridges gave Berg a 16th minute lead from a corner, but a flick on by Tom Roworth led to Ashley Burchett equalizing with a volley in the 30th minute. TDI took a 2-1 lead when James Brown scored but, Berg came back in the 80th with an equalizer when Kieran Alleyne broke from the half way line and beat keeper Russ Hancock. TDI had the better chances and Player/Manager Graham Jenkins thought he had scored the winner, only for it to be disallowed for offside. So brought forth the shootout. Lance Forster, Austin Kelly and Alleyne converted for Berg and for TDI Group FC penalties were put away by Conner Morey, Burchett and Roworth which took it to sudden death. The final kick by Bridges was saved and Mark Smith made no mistake to see TDI progress further.
