At an EGM on Monday evening, the members clubs of the North Midlands Under 19s League gave the League Committee the go ahead to change the constitution of the league and become an Under 21s league for the 2014/15 season.
The meeting, held at Staveley Miners Welfare FC, saw all current club represented and there were two votes that took place. The League Committee gave up their right to vote to hand the decision over to the member clubs.
The first vote was to allow for an Under 19s division if the Under 21s League was voted in by the clubs. This was passed by fourteen votes to two in favour.
The second vote was to change the constitution to run as an Under 21s League for the 2014/15 season. This was also passed by ten votes to five in favour.
A quick show of hands indicated that nine of the clubs still hoped to run an Under 19s side next season, while ten indicated that they hoped to run an Under 21s team in the league. Some clubs were looking to field both age groups within the league.
