Wriitle F.C. Res. once again tasted defeat, their fourth in succession, this time losing out to Dunmow Rhodes F.C. Res. in the Patron’s Plate Knockout Cup Competition.

Dunmow created the first opportunity when Charlie Pollard saw a header from a corner go wide. Minutes later Matthew Scannell, laid the ball into the path Henry Field who should have done better with the opportunity created for him, but his shot went wide.

Dunmow took the lead on 16 minutes, when a free kick some 25 yards out was smashed into the far corner by Dunmow skipper Tom Lightly.
Waskett from Writtle saw his 30th minute effort well saved by the Dunmow keeper, before Trendall had two efforts well saved by Waplington in the Writtle goal.

Dunmow created an early chance in the second half to extend their lead but were thankful when in the 67 minute a Crowe effort was cleared off the line. Warren in the Dunmow goal then saved well from Garrett.

With 17 minutes left to play Dunmow extended their lead. A corner on the right was allowed to come through to the back post where Watt was on hand to head home.

Writtle managed to half the deficit with 10 minutes reaming. The best move of the game presented Garrett a simple tap in after good work by Waskett.

Writtle went looking for an equaliser but time ran out allowing Dunmow to secure the plate
