WEEKLY ROUND UP.
This week saw the start of this seasons Bromsgrove Charity Cup, where Millfield Rovers came out victors in the Bromsgrove Derby against Sporting Grapevine. Rovers led 3-0 at half time, but after being reduced to ten men in the second half ended up hanging on to a 3-2 success. There was drama in the same competition as Abbeydale and Winyates Wanderers faced extra time with the score at 3-3, but up popped Ryan Jones with a moment of genius in the last minute with a 40 yard strike.
In the Steven troth Cup a much improved Redditch Cross performance stunned second place Queens Head with a 4-2 victory, Luke Forrester scoring twice. In the Jim Fleeman Cup there was no such upset as Alvechurch saw off the challenge of New Woodland Cottage in a 6-0 scoreline, where Keith Rostill and Luke Powell each netting two goals.
In the Premier Division, Rubery Bridge move up to second after a 4-0 success over Translift Bendi, Hizza United moved up to third after their 2-1 win at South Redditch and Black Horse moved up to fourth with a 7-2 victory at Wychbold RBL, Dale Edwards notching a hat trick.
SHTP now sit at the top of Division One after Tobias Teague scored a hat trick in the 6-2 defeat of Lodge Park, whilst Mark McAllisterÂ’s two goals helped Rocklands move up to second place after their 5-0 away win at Dagnell End Rovers. Alcester Town were knocked off the top of the table as a result of their narrow 2-1 home defeat by CBH Fasteners and Mayfly recorded their first league win of the season, 2-1 at Beoley Village.
Division Two leaders OKH Sporting Dynamo carried on their winning ways as Timmy Houghton bagged a hat trick in a 6-0 win over the spirited and enthusiastic Rubery Legends. Sporting Club Redditch were the biggest winners of the day with a 7-1 victory over VKL Utd, Tom Higgins leading the way with a double strike and last but definitely not least Evesham United Sunday made it two wins in a row, with a 3-1 success over Frankley Athletic.
This coming Sunday sees the second Round of the WFA Sunday Cups with Black Horse flying the flag at home to Droitwich Spa Eagles, with Translift Bendi facing a tricky trip to Worcester Raiders. CBH Fasteners head towards Stourport to face Wilden Village in the Junior Cup.
