Hale hit 7 past Cammell Laird Res
CARLSBERG WEST CHESHIRE A.F.L.
Hale found themselves in 7th heaven for the 2nd successive week as they again put that many goals into their opponents net at their Hale Farm ground. Stunned victims this time round were Cammell Laird Reserves, who responded just twice through Paul Tosney and Chris Reilly. Wayne Smith was top dog for Hale thanks to a 4 goal haul as Carl Latham, Bradley Williams and Sean Wright also registered. League leaders Maghull carry all before them and on Saturday they collected their 15 maximum of the campaign when James McGrane and Lee Tynan were on the mark in a 2-0 triumph over visiting Chester Nomads. Bidding to end their losing run, Heswall got off to the best of starts when Richie Foulkes slotted home after just 6 minutes of their contest with Newton. It was soon 2-0 as Andy Moran converted another right wing cross. The visitors hit back when Sean Robinson rose highest to convert a set piece but the hosts quickly restored their two goal advantage at the break when Jay Thompson fired in from the edge of the box. Newton dominated 2nd half possession but with only Danny Murphy finding the net Heswall were able to celebrate a much needed 3-2 victory. There were also sighs of relief at West Kirby following their 4-1 win over Blacon YC. Liam Casey was a two goal man for Kirby who also had Tom Murray and Matthew Bowe obliging as Ryan Nicoll hit the reply. The remaining Division 1 encounters ended all square with Tom Hughes and Danny Boyle posting for host side Southport Trinity who shared 4 goals with a Christleton outfit responding through Joe Douglas and Josh Williams while Ashville [Kyle Williams] and Vauxhall Motors Reserves [Danny Norris] drew 1-1 at Villa Park. Table trailers Upton AA entertained the side immediately above them, Mallaby, and there was to be no change in their respective league positions after the teams had blanked each other out.
There was no doubting the outstanding Division 2 scoreline of the day, and indeed the season, which saw Richmond Raith Rovers Mags recover from defeat at the hands of Redgate Rovers 7 days earlier to completely overrun West Kirby Reserves by 17 goals to nil. Main destroyers for Richmond were Joe Bligh and James English with 4 each while Alan Western, Paul Gouthwaite and Domonic Gilchrist posted doubles. Redgate will be disappointed following last weeks success they lost a two goal lead to promotion seeking Helsby in a 2-2 draw. Brad Shearwood and an own goal counted for Redgate as Matty Johnstone and Michael Byrne netted for the visitors. Top dogs Capenhurst Villa completed back to back wins over Prescott Cables Reserves with their 2-0 success being underpinned by a Mike Banks brace. Second placed Manor Athletic avenged last months defeat at the hands of Beb Athletic courtesy of Chris Tolleys single strike. Willaston will be hoping that their poor start is firmly behind them as they recorded a 2nd successive victory with Andy Noonan,2, Wayne Dowling and John Lloyd posting when they saw off Heswall Reserves [Joe Cole, Owen Davies], 4-2. Gateacre Village continue to climb up the table and a smart Joe Connolly hat trick spearheaded their 5-2 defeat of Maghull Reserves. Scott Willis and John Murphy supplemented the win while Fashad Parvas and Dave Hughes were on the mark for Maghull. Mersey Royal returned to action but stay rooted to the foot of the table after a 5-0 home reversal at the hands of Ashville Reserves who had Kyle Kelly, Shaun Parrington, Ryan Hudson, Connor Murphy and Ben Percival on target.
In Division 3 Ford Motors took advantage of their promotion rivals being involved in cup action when easing to a 3-0 triumph over struggling Merseyside Police. Danny Tree, Dave McNabb and Adam Daniels registered for their side as they take over 2nd spot in the table. Kirby Town Railway were grateful to Terry and John Naylor as well as John Humphreys whose goals enabled them to edge out host side Chester Nomads Reserves [Joe Imlach, Callum Johnson] by the odd goal in 5. Marshalls Reserves put fellow strugglers Upton AA Reserves well and truly to the sword with an 8-1 thrashing that featured a 4 goal haul by Dave Hodge and Christleton Reserves gained a much needed win when Kris Jones and Joe Kirk posted in the 2-1 victory over Belfry [Danny Hart]. Widnes Vikings Reserves registered through Matty Pybus in their 1-1 draw with Neston Nomads who had Ben Pearson as their marksman. The only Youth Division fixture resulted in victory for Mallaby [Elliot Toner,2, Johnny Dowling] who edged out South Liverpool [Jamie Claire and David Mee], 3-2.
Inspired by a Matty Dooling brace, Rainhill Town booked their place in the West Cheshire Shield semi-finals by easing their way to a 5-1 success at Capenhurst Villa Reserves. Ashley Elliott, Kris Grannon and Dave Monteith completed the win with Matty Concannon netting Capes reply. In midweek Kirby Town Railway [John Humphries,2, Josh Naylor, Jonathon Williams] also reached the last 4 after needing extra time before running out 4-1 winners over Bootle Reserves [Joe Kelly]. South Liverpool were indebted to Adam Rood, Alex Woodcock and Tom Stewart as they advanced to the semi-final of the Liverpool FA Challenge Cup edging out West Everton Xaviers by the odd goal in 5. In the Liverpool Junior Cup 4th round ties, Hale Reserves had Colin Mee and Jack Walker on target when ending Division 3 leaders St Helens Town Reserves [Paul Cook-Hannah] interest in the competition with a 3-1 scoreline while Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves [Phil Duncan, Michael Feeney] made progress as they defeated Salisbury Athletic 2-1. However it was to be the end of the road for South Liverpool Reserves, who despite leading at one stages with strikes by Neil Roach and Curtis Cummins, lost out to Walton Community by 4 goals to 2.
