Jason Aldridge, a brace for the SCS playmaker...

First KLM Semi-Finalists Secured

Mallard and SCS were the first sides through to the last four of the KLM Challenge Cup, writes Darren “Statto” Jones.

After an evenly-contested first half-hour, Craig Reynolds headed home from a corner to give Mallard the lead. Perry Phillips doubled the lead on the hour when he followed up a free-kick saved by Andy Gibb before grabbing another after a good team move. Sam Harwood gave MBDA hope from the penalty spot, but Ashley Kersey’s shot straight into Andy North’s arms from three yards was their big chance. The first mistake of the game from Alan Kenney saw Jim Bywater notch the fourth to see Mallard inflict only a second defeat in all competitions on their opponents as they set up a tie with Athletico Peartree or Bedwell Athletic.

SCS will play Coopers or Unity Nirankari after seeing off Highwayman (Bryan Challice and Ben Evans). Jason Aldridge (two), John Ross Perrin (two) and Chris Lyle did the job. They were 2-1 up at the break as Perrin netted from a corner, whilst Aldridge scored a terrific strike.
