Third placed FC Bootle cranked up their challenge, after efforts from Shaun Harris, Dylan Westerside, Joe Tynan and Isaac Jones secured a 4-1 decision over last season's champions, Mersey Royal who had Connor Doyle in reply, while hat tricks from Caleb Jones and Nathan Peet anchored second placed Mossley Hill Ath. to a 6-0 victory over Vauxhall Motors Res.
Alex Fletcher netted for Ashville Res. but it was the hosts, Helsby who profited, Joel Jones, Lee Guirado, Sonny Dean and Jamie Hooper sharing the goals in a 4-1 triumph.

Division Three pacesetters, FC Kirkby stayed seven points in credit at the top thanks to a 3-2 triumph at Runcorn Sports Res., confirmed by efforts from Brendan Rawcliffe (2) and Charlie Bennett. The hosts had Luca Tron and Steve Butler on target while nearest rivals, Cammell Laird 1907 Res., savoured a return to action, goals from Ben Crossley (2) Kieran Hughes and Cy Sullivan sparking a 4-0 victory.

In the Wirral DFA Amateur Cup, West Kirby Res. with efforts from Kyle Bennett(2) and John Pomfrett clinched their place in the semi-finals, following a 3-0 success at Moreton, and in the CCFA U18's cup second round, Longworth and Ryan bagged a goal apiece as Vauxhall Motors overcame Cheadle Town 2-1.
Congratulations also to Athletico Blues, who beat MSB Woolton Bilbao 2-0 in the LCFA U18's cup first round, thanks to strikes from George Murray and George Walker.

On the domestic scene, Runcorn Sports, with goals from Kier Fenlon(2) Ryan Burnell and James Pye made it to the quarter finals of the Haworth and Gallagher Bowl after they won 4-0 at Maghull Res., but efforts from Mamadou Djabi, Jack Hughes and Salim Djabi failed to prevent South Sefton Borough from losing 4-3 to replies from South Liverpool Res.' Alex Almond, Amr Badhawi, Yusuf Moshin and Adam Shelton.
Hakeem Munns and Jonathan Liddle applied the finishing touches as Mossley Hill Ath. U23's accounted for Marshalls Res. 2-1 but a penalty from Ant Jacobs proved to be a consolation only, as Huyton Rovers went down 3-1 at home to Mallaby. Saturday's Youth Division action saw fourth placed AFC Knowsley, with goals from Bobby Connor, Sam Rockett and George Clarkson eclipse Maghull 3-2. Elliot Barry and Will Carden scored for the visitors.
On target for West Kirby Utd, in their 3-2 away win at Vauxhall Motors, were Tom Barrett, Oscar Wilkinson and Brad Downey. Motors hit back via Cody Carter and Kyle Robinson.
