Seven up for Ferndale
UNDER 13 LEAGUE CUP FINAL: Six goals in the second half vaulted Ferndale Rodbourne past Shaw, writes STUART SMEDLEY.
The game exploded in Ferndale's favour in the second period after the score was level at 1-1 at the interval.
Both sides had good chances in the opening minutes, but it was Ryan Selby who blasted Ferndale ahead on 19 minutes, beating Jack Wilkinson after Josh Skeates had chested it down for him.
The lively Dominic Rekowski answered immediately as he beat an outstretched Jack Sansum after outmuscling his marker.
Shaw hit the self-destruct button immediately after half-time.
With 39 minutes gone a corner wasn't cleared and Vince Tapster made them pay, drilling into the bottom corner.
The lead was doubled four minutes later when a Selby shot rebounded off the post before striking Wilkinson and going in.
Ferndale continued to pile on the pressure though and there only looked like being one winner.
Selby bagged his third with just under 10 minutes left when he slotted home after a goalmouth scramble caused by a dangerous Kyle Rigley corner.
With five minutes left Andrew Ealey played a ball over the top to Matthew Beauchamp, who flicked it over Wilkinson and Skeates tapped into an open goal.
To rub further salt into Shaw's wounds, two more goals followed both from Josh Parsons.
After deceiving two defenders, he fired home from the edge of the area to notch his first, then lobbed Wilkinson deep into injury time.
Man of the match: Josh Parsons
