ITCHEN COLLEGE HIT 7

Jean Luc Ramdin went home proudly clutching the match ball after scoring his maiden hat-trick in Itchen’s 7-1 AOC English Colleges victory over Strodes.
The talented wing back produced another virtuoso display, scoring once in the first half, and a stunner in the second before completing his threesome from the penalty spot.
Ramdin, who played regularly for England Schools’ Under-18s last season, captains the Hampshire Colleges team alongside cutting his teeth in Sydenhams Wessex League soccer at nearby Sholing.
Itchen were very comfortable winners in the end, but had Strodes, from Egham, been a tad braver the scoreline might have not been so severe.
They had a chance or two early on, but once Itchen got into their stride with a fine goal by Will Gage, there was only once likely winner.
Ethan Taylor set up the opening goal of Ramdin’s hat-trick, while some fine individualist player by Jack Wilson set up a third before half time for James Smith.
When Strodes pulled a goal back it looked as though Itchen might have a game on their hands, but having wasted one good chance, Jake Willis-Dellimore made it 4-1.
Ramdin’s goal of the match made it five before James Johnson and Ramdin, from the penalty spot, rapped it up.
Barton Peveril, 3-1 winners at Varndean, and Farnborough are also though to the next phase of the AOC, while Peter Symonds wait to host Merrist Wood, from Guildford.
They Surrey college took a 5-1 beating from Farnborough in the ESFA Under-18 Trophy, of which Boro’ are the holders.
Farnborough scorers were Jake Wilson (2), Barney Chart, Tancho Limbu and Charlie Bushell.
Boro’ also won in the Colleges League, with Wilson again scoring twice, alongside Rana and Fleet, in the 4-0 beating of Richard Tauntons’.
Peter Symonds crashed 6-2 to resurgent Andover, who have won their last two games - Theo Wolfarth and Joe Sutherden scored for PSC – while Barton Peveril ran in eight unanswered goals against Queen Mary’s.
In the Championship, Farnborough were held 1-1 by Basingstoke, but a hat-trick by Max Reid and a Ben Parkinson brace put Peter Symonds on their way to a 5-0 win over Portsmouth. Barton Peveril beat Brockenhurst 4-3.
