Basingstoke & District League Match Reports from Saturday 9th February , By Peter Raynbird.

It was another weather interruption to the Saturday League fixture list as only three of the scheduled matches were played, one of the postponements was the Semi Final of the Peter Raynbird Cup between Overton United B and AFC Aldermaston Reserves at Berrydown, to see who will meet Twentyten on 30th March.
In the Basingstoke A Cup Quarter Finals only one was played; it was at King George V Playing Field, where Hook defeated Tadley Calleva A 5-1. Hook have won this trophy on nine occasions, the first time in 1994 and the last two years ago when Tadley were their opponents in the Final. It was however Tadley who went into the lead after just three minutes when a corner from Ellis Theodore was not cleared well and Bradley Cox header beat keeper Greg Archer. They held the lead until the 37th minute when Hook equalised through Ismael Alvarez when put through by Sean Hayes and it was Alvarez with the cross for Dave King to volley home in the 49th for the lead. In the 66th it became 3-1 when a cross from Wesley de Oliveira Quirino was punched out by Gary Harper and fell to Hayes, who crashed it home from well outside the box. Tadley had a couple of chances when Fred Ball and Cox were unable to capitalize, and Hook went on to add to their advantage with two late goals when Dave King and Dan Mauradian combined for substitute Pete Silvester to net and a dummy by Silvester led to Hayes scoring the firth.
The only game due to be played in Division One between Twentyten and Herriard Sports was cancelled as Herriard were unable to raise a team, the points will now be awarded. When these two met only two weeks ago, Twentyten won 17-0.
Division Two
When Chineham met Twentyten Reserves last month, they went down 5-1, but in the return at the Everest School pitch they picked up all three points with a 3-1 win. It looks a surprise result, but as Twentyten ended up with only eight men after three red cards, perhaps not. The first to go was their goalkeeper Adam Burridge after just ten minutes after disputing a free kick and making an alleged gesture to Referee Miller. Chineham took advantage when Paddy Callahan gave them a half time lead. In the 50th Josh Bromley put Olly Knox through for the equaliser, but soon after this they went down to nine men when Bromley was dismissed for a second yellow card. . The next to go was Sam Coombs for alleged misconduct and Callaghan scored his second to make it 2-1. Mark Smith, who took over in goal, made a couple of good saves, but was beaten when a breakaway goal by Scott Berry was too good for him and made sure of the points.
A hat trick from North Warnborough’ s John Scott- Elliott was the feature of this seven-goal mid table clash with AFC Berg Reserves. It was however Dylan Mothersole who give them a 20th minute lead when a close-range effort from Khalil Bentaleb was parried and they held this lead until a deflected shot from Lee Neal made it 1-1. A good run and finish from Scott- Elliott restored the lead for Borough and after a chip by substitute Harry Elliott had hit the bar, John Scott Elliott scored his second for a 3-1 lead and he then completed his hat trick before two goals from Johnny Gurney, in the 80th and 86th gave manager Trevor Craig an anxious last ten.
