Jumpers for goal post game! As neither team could secure adequate playing facilities. Cherry Hinton Lions u10 Blue played an away fixture at St Bede's to Cambridge Celts u9.

Celts gave the greater amount of attacking pressure in the first 15min quarter (were the rules were a mix of u9 and u10). Were the Lions were finding their roar like Simba from the Lion King. After a few punishing attacks, the lions came away with the tail between their legs to a 2-0 deficit.

With some more fresh legs in the second quarter. The Lions seemed more equal to the Celtic hosts. With the Celts edging the 1/4 and taking their goals tally to 3-0.

With the third quarter the Lions honing their hunting skills in front of goal showing glimmers of what to come. As Dylan and Benjamin had been listening to the coaches tac-tics had paid off (as Abdullaah was already practicing his Peter Crouch style calibration Picture 3). A low in swinging corner had given the defensive team as much trouble as could be hoped for, and Benjamin (scoring the teams 1st ever goal) was able to squeeze home from the resulting melee. Ransford used his skill and link up play to first create space for a pass and then receive the ball back to finish with devastating fashion! The quarter ended 3-2.

With much excitement and anticipation every player wanted to be on the field for the fourth quarter! Unfortunately the coach had to make some difficult decisions and rest some of the future stars whilst letting the young generation on the pitch blossom. With what seemed like a constant Lions Roar (mainly from the packed touch line). The u10s attacked with constant threat. Then the equaliser came from the boot of the talismanic Ransford. 3-3 the game finished with the cliché of a game of 2 halves not fitting for such a joyful occasion but a game of 4 equally enjoyable quarters!

The coaching staff would like to thank Ellis, Gabriel, Noah and Ben for attending goal with their un-gloved paws. Tight defending was constantly ensured by Alex, Bobby and Zack. With constant running from Dylan, Matthew, Abdullaah and the goal threat of Ransford.

Also a special thanks to the parents for good behaviour and our hosts Cambridge Celts worthy advisories and we expect them to push for great things after giving us a very enjoyable game!
