The big surprise result was in the Premier Division where the hot favourites Rising Sun DC were beaten 5-1 by Bramley United.
In the opening day of the season Bramley were well beaten by the same score at Sherborne Road but Manager Andy Lear learned from it and changed his formation packing the midfield and so stopping a repeat. They took a tenth minute lead when a 50 yard free kick was headed past keeper Matt Powell by Sam Cato. It was in the 56th when a move between Dave Wallace and Stuart Leddy led to a spectacular overhead kick from Cato put them two up and a bad back pass led to an own goal for the third. There was no let up by United who went four up through Leddy direct from his corner kick and Wallace played through for Aaron Burt to volley the fifth. It was only in the closing stages when Rising Sun managed to get a goal and that was when Josh Harper headed into his own goal. The other Premier game turned it to be a high scoring affair at Barlows Park where visitors Sherborne St John won 7-6, the decider a penalty kick, taken by Declan Shuttleworth in added time. To score four goals and end up on the losing side is very unusual but it happened to the Kye Theodore, the Tadley Calleva marksman. Theodore opened the scoring but an own goal following a long throw from Olly Burjan and a goal from Jabus Moore, who has been out of action for four years, gave Sherborne a 3-1 advantage. Goals from Lee Champion and Stephen Burgess saw Tadley level at half time and early in the second half Theodore soon completed his hat trick with two quick strikes for a 5-3 lead. The Sherborne front man Alex Izzo then got into the act and scored three in a row to make it 6-5, but Theodore replied from a penalty to level. It was not to be the end for in added time Sherborne were awarded another penalty and Shuttleworth put it away to give his side their first of the season.
It is Basingstoke Athletic setting the pace in Division Two with their fourth win after beating AFC Berg 4-2. It was Matt Button combining with Dale Bristow who opened their account and just before half time Bristow played through for Button to make it 2-0. Ryan Evans put away the third in the 60th minute, set up by Roman Vanik, but Berg made a brief comeback when Astrine West beat keeper Sean Martin. Substitute Abiah Kassim came on to make it 4-1, with the only reply from Berg, their sub Louis Woodman beating Martin again.. Bounty United moved up into second spot after beating Labour Club 5-4. Labour manager Daniel Poulter has managed to sign Wayne Barlow and with his vast experienced, the ex Chrystal Palace midfielder proved a big asset and is likely to assist in getting them off the bottom of the table. They found themselves two down when first Mitchell Stokes and then Jordon Willis scored with fine left footed strikes. Cameron George scored for Labour, but a header from Matt Love gave Bounty a 3-1 lead. Labour came again through Matt Kelly to see the score 3-2 at the break. A bright start in the second half saw Bounty go 5-2 ahead when Stokes cut in from the left to net his second and it was his cross that led to Love heading his second. Labour were not finished and urged on by Barlow they scored two quick goals through George and Kelly to give Bounty an anxious last ten. Herriard Sports made it two clean sheets in a two by beating Overton United B 2-0 at home, a rare event for them. In the 35th minute Adam Francis was brought down in the box and Stuart Minton scored from the penalty kick and Herriard dug deep to retain the lead with sound performances at the back from Jake Burrows and Steve Wood and then in the 75th minute the lead was doubled when a good move by Karl Buttle led to Sam Weber finding the net.
