ASDA HOLD HARLEQUINS
ROUND UP 10th. NOVEMBER.
PREMIER DIVISION
On a day full of surprise results, bottom markers Asda George held league leaders Harlequins to a 2-2 draw. Ashford Campbell and Justin Ayre were on target for Asda while goals from Dan Clarke and Andrew Webb earned the Quins a share of the points. Thorplands United also brought off a shock by trouncing Airflow 5-1 with Steve Brown helping himself to a hat-trick and Garry Munelly netting twice leaving Lewis Robinson to hit Airflow?s lone retort. A foursome from Conrad Turner put University of Northampton on the road to a resounding 8-1 annihilation of Resource United. A double for Seb Carmichael-Brown and singles for Jamie Poole and Nathan Derry made up the students tally while Iosif Doli netted the Resource consolation.
DIVISION ONE
The last two unbeaten teams in Division One both suffered reversals as pace setters Cotton Hill went down 3-2 to Delapre Old Boys in the Far Cotton local derby match. Leon Cosford and Chris Gale scored for Cotton Hill but a brace from the enigmatic Luke Dickens and a solo effort from Adam Barrett secured an unlikely victory for Delapre. University of Northampton Reserves inflicted a first defeat of the season on highflying Hitec Roofline 5-1. Player manager Chris Eustace and James Poole both hit doubles for the scholars to go with a solo strike from Gary Vivas. All Hitec could muster in reply was a Matthew Humphries effort. Northants Police recorded their first success of the season beating Harlequins Reserves 3-1 and in doing so leapfrogged them leaving the Quins second string at the foot of the table. Keith Finson hit a two-timer for the Police with James Larkins scoring the other goal while Kerrith Belfon found the target for Harlequins. Obelisk United and Ashley Rovers fought out a 2-2 stalemate at the Obelisk Centre. Jordan Kirton and Wayne Wright netted for Obelisk and Rikki Hives and Stephen Hollis did likewise for Rovers. In a tight game Swan & Helmet edged out James King Blisworth ?A? by the odd goal in three. Lewis Curtis hit the back of net for Blisworth but a twosome from Robert Bullimore was enough to win the points for the pub men. Far Cotton Loco went nap against Airflow Reserves winning 6-0 courtesy of double strikes from Matt Aitkinson, Craig Curran and Barry Swallow.
