Lamb Inn beat weather but lose to Wolves

Last Sunday's football programme was hit by the decision to close the local council pitches, so only games on private pitches or away matches outside the district were staged. The pitches were clearly playable in Andover and league leaders Lamb Inn travelled to play AFC Wolversdene in the second round of the Basingstoke Kelvin Cup. The home club narrowly beat the visitors by 5-4. Lamb Inn's recent form is slipping, having suffered three defeats on the trot.

In the Bernard Cornish Cup round 2, Oakley Reserves lost 1-5 to Team from Division 3, who have now gone nine games unbeaten. Oakley Reserves are the second Division 2 side they have knocked out of the competition.

One league game graced each division. Bottom side of Division 1, Dayers Fine Foods were beaten by eight goals without reply by Oakley. After a bad start to the season, Oakley have won their last three league games and risen to mid-table.

North Warnborough Two consolidated their second place in Division 2 by beating Chineham 3-1. This was after Chineham had started the more brightly of the two sides, dominating the first quarter of the game, and opened the scoring after twenty minutes through Kieron Alleyne. This setback had a settling effect on the hosts, who started to claw back control of the game. Dan Mellors equalised on the half hour, the score remaining even at the interval. Early in the second half Trevor Rogers scored a fantastic goal to complete the comeback for the home side, before Peter Keens sealed the victory a quarter of an hour from the end with a very nicely taken goal. North Warnborough Two are in fine form, with their fifth victory in the last seven matches.

Chineham Reserves lost their Division 3 match 3-5 to visitors Basing United, their goals from Simon Staits, Tom Green and Filer Andrews. Basing United go second in the table.
