Basingstoke & District League Match Reports from Saturday 16th September, By Peter Raynbird.

Division One.
After the first three matches of the season, the surprise leaders of Division One is promoted Herriard Sports with a maximum record following their best win yet, when beating potential championship contenders Twentyten 3-1. Both keepers were in good form in the early stages when Harry Nash pulled off two good saves from the Man of the Match Sam Weber, who scored all three, but at the other end his keeper Keith Dickens saved efforts from Carl Pearson and Jake Tanner. It was Tanner who put Twentyten ahead in the 26th minute with a header from Pearson’s corner. Herriard did have the better of play and in the 44th minute they drew level it started following a throw when Joe Harris found Weber with his pass and after beating a couple on his run, his shot proved too good form Nash. Christian Cox did have a good effort cleared off the line for Twentyten, but in the 60th Weber struck again for the lead. Phil Stains found him with a 50 yard free kick and he did the rest. Carl Pearson did have a goal disallowed for a narrow offside, before he had the misfortune to have to be carried off with a broken ankle. A back pass from Ben Osborne fell short and the lively Weber picked it up to complete his straight hat trick and seal the points.
A 4-1 win for Hook toppled early season leaders AFC Aldermaston Reserves after a 4-1 win away.
It was the home side who took the lead in the twelfth minutes when a lob by Michael Porter caught out the helpless keeper Greg Archer. They then hit the bar before Hook equalised just before the break when Dan Mauradian ran onto a long clearance kick from Archer. Tom Lucas finished neatly following a cut back before Mauradian headed home a corner taken by Dan Mellors for a 3-1 lead. Aldermaston could not recover and five minutes from time Mauradian completed his hat trick with another assist from Mellors.
Following two bad defeats and conceding fifteen goals, Bounty United had their cricketers back, including the Hook & Newham Basics batsman Matt Love and he gave them a two goal lead against Winklebury Wizards as they eventually won 4-2. In the 15th minutes he ran onto a ball over the top from Chris Parsons and his second came in the 25th. with a half volley on the turn after a pass from Phil Case. Wizards had chances Matt King forcing a one on one save and Jack Arthur hit the post, before Arthur pulled a goal back for them in the 25th.mintute. Bounty came again and Jordon Willis made it 3-1 before the break with an assist from Love. .Vincent Mundane had a goal disallowed for Wizards and after playing a one two with Liam Grainger and King forced another good save before Bounty scored their fourth in the 53rd minute when Ashley Neal picked up a poor back pass and took on keeper
Division Two
S herborne Saints and AFC Berg are the two main contenders in Division Two, as both have commenced the season with 100% records after the first three matches. Saints head the table on goal difference after chalking up nineteen goals with just three conceded. Their latest was a7-0 win against Longdog Soldiers, who were not at the races. Matt Kelly started the rout following a flick on from Matt Livingstone and this was quickly followed with a goal from Pavet Derbot , who then took a pass from Warren Hill for this second and early in the second half he completed a straight hat trick . Livingstone then made it 5-0 from a Cobi Judd pass. Liam Doran took a pass from Livingstone, who controlled things throughout and finally a free kick from Hill ended in Jack May heading home the seventh.
Dave Brickwood’s AFC Berg side was also among the goals, beating Basingstoke Athletic 6-0. Kieran Allayne opened the scoring after five minutes and on the break Ashley Elward made it two by half time. Lee Neal added another early in the second half and after Allayne scored his second, Elward and Neal added further goals.
Basingstoke Colts were missing their main striker Benito Oprea, who was on a two week visit to his native Rumania and suffered a 4-1 defeat against Origin Headley. In the 20th minute Mark Bone headed Origin into the lead and it became 2-0 in the 35th from a free kick taken by Mackenzie Collins. Harry Setrem responded for Colts after a shot from Bailey Craig rebounded off the keeper. This was in the 55th minute, but it soon became 3-1 following a nice looking left footed strike outside the box from Hawkins. Craig forced two more good saves for Colts before Hawkins headed the fourth into the top corner. Collins looked to have scored his second when his shot hit the underside of the bar and bounced down, but the referee ruled no goal.
Somesay had their second win, beating AFC Aldermaston A 4-2. They went a goal down, but came back strongly when Luke Gore beat his marker and equalised. Into the second half a headed clearance fell to Connor Stratton who beat the keeper from 20 yards out. Gore then played through for Hayden Chalker to extend their lead. They then went down to ten men when substitute Sam Lovelocck was sent off following a clash with the Aldermaston keeper who received a yellow. Gore then took a corner and substitute George O;Shea headed in the fourth. Aldermaston did cone back with a late goal.
Dan Hancock had the ball in the net for Twentyten Reserves after 30 seconds in their 4-1 win against Chineham following an assist by Franklin Spacagna. Shane West forced a good save before Twenyten made it 2-0 through Jack Hulbert from a Tom Mole cross. .West hit another chance over the bar for Chineham, but in the 55th his defender John Smith gave away a penalty with a foul and Hancock converted the penalty kick. The fourth came in the 63rd minute, a header from Jack Barrett from a Mark Smith corner kick. The Chineham goal came in the 78th minute when Ricky Smith closed down a clearance from the Twentyten keeper.
