Division One

Sherborne St John could only manage a 1-1 draw against Overton United A on a very heavy pitch at Berrydown, but it is enough to see them take top spot at the top of the Division One table. Trevor Livingstone’s side were on top almost throughout and only a series of saves by the Overton keeper Lewis Watts that stopped them taking all three points. Despite the pressure from the visitors it was Overton who went in front through Ben Pierce and they held this lead until the last 15 minutes. There was plenty of work for the Overton stpper, two outstanding saves in particular from Watts when Sachin Rae and Alex Izzo looked certain to level and Tom Brickley hit the bar with a good effort. In the end it was left to substitute Dec Shuttleworth, playing his first game of the season who netted the equalizer.

DJS Telecoms have suddenly come good after an average start to season and have won three of their last four league matches, the latest was to beat Hampshire Irons 6-1. Irons had only nine men and makeshift keeper Gavin Curry and although they eventually had a full team by the 40th they only trailed 2-1 at half time. Carlos Gonzalez gave DJS the lead, but even with nine men Irons equalized with a free kick taken by Ben Haskins. A shot by Nick Saunders led to an own goal by Rob Mead and DJS went in 2-1 up at half time. On came sub. Lee Neal and in the 55th minute his shot rocketing in off the bar to make it 3-1 and Neal soon added another. Kieran Dent hit the post for Irons from a Jay Green pass, but DJS ended up the stronger side and goals followed from Ashley Elward and Allan Morgan.

Twentyten continue their good run, losing just once in their last six matches, the latest a repeat of the Peter Raynbird Cup Quarter Final win against Basingstoke Labour Club, this time winning 3-0. Labour had a good early spell, but good defending kept it goal lees until the 35th minute. Joe Hill was their scorer, picking up a square ball from Jack Clarke and lobbing the keeper who was off his line. The second came in the 48th when a corner by Ryan Lupton was headed on by Hill and finished off by Christian Cox, his first goal of the season. On the hour came the third when another Lupton corner was headed back by Charlie Hill to his brother Joe who buried his second.

Tadley Calleva A keep in touch with a 4-0 away win against Basingstoke Athletic. They took a third minute lead when a cross from Luke Allison fell to Dan Walkley, and the move was finished off by Kye Theodore. Athletic had their chances with Ryan Evans shooting over the bar and also having a goal disallowed and Ashley Russell hit a chance over the bar for them. In the 23rd Peter White made it 2-0 with a well struck free kick, but chances began to fade as the heavy ground took its toll and it was not until the 80th minute when the Tadley third came. Gary Hibbs cut a good ball back for White to net and two minutes from time Theodore scored his second, set up by White.

Division Two

The clash between Herriard Sports and Basingstoke United resulted in a 4-3 win for United, with the winner coining in the 75th minute from Ash Pearce and so completed a fine hat trick. These three points are enough to see them take over as league leaders and also inflicting the first league defeat of the season on their opponents. It was however Joe Cook who opened the scoring for United in the tenth minute when he volleyed home a Grant Smart cross. Sam Cato soon equalized, heading home a corner by Alex Roberts. A 30 yard shot from Pearce went in via the woodwork to give his side a half time 3-1 lead, but Herriard came back strongly and Sam Weber put away a pass from Chris Smith in the 50th and then leveled the scores in the 73rd when Cato forced home his second. It took United just two minute to regain the advantage when Pearce was put through by Charlie Smith and beat keeper Dave Purt in a one on one.

Bounty United were top of the table before this meeting at Castle Fields against Winklebury Wizards, but were shaken badly and suffered only their second defeat of the season and well beaten 5-0. Wizards look to have turned the corner after a poor first half of the season and shook Bounty by taking a two goal lead in the opening twenty minutes. In the 7th minute Good play by Dan Goodyear and Dan Costen led to Adam Bartlett scoring and Costen scored their second when a cross from Dom Stevens was not dealt with. Two fine saves by Gavin Alexander kept Bounty at bay as they counter attacked strongly and then in the 60th a good passing movement between Scotty Winterborne and Connor Stratton led to Bartlett heading his second and a 3-0 lead. In the 70th a free kick taken by Costen found Dean Scott on the edge of the penalty area and his shot beat keeper Rickie Vinn. Ten minutes from time Vinn was beaten again when a chip from Greg Adams some 30 yards out, proved too good for him.


The battle between basement clubs AFC Berg and TDI Group resulted in a 5-1 win for Berg and so taking them off the bottom. The verdict from Graham Jenkins, the TDI manager, was a very poor performance throughout and apart from a couple of efforts by Conner Morey and James Brown in the second half, we were never in the picture. Star man for Berg was Kieran Alleyne, who scored four of the five. Austin Kelly picked up s back pass in the 15th minute and played through for Alleyne’s first and after Kelly hit the bar Alleyne picked up the rebound to net and he completed his hat trick before the break..
Allenye scored again before TDI managed to pull a goal back. It was the newly signed dan Hancock with the goal in the 65th after picking up a through ball from Jenkins. It was Kelly who scored the fifth goal..


Overton United B who looked potential promotion candidates at one time, but it was another defeat, their fourth as they came home wit ha 3-1 defeat against AFC Aldermaston A. The heavy conditions did not suit Overton and in the 38th minute they went a goal down. A corner was taken by Tony Johnson, and Andy Hynes found the back of the net. Overton did come back to level in the 55th when a cross from Peter Ball was finished off by Kieran Chadd. Even though they went down to ten men through injury, it was Aldermaston looking the more likely scorers and they regained the lead when Kevin Flain went on a good run, found Johnson with his pass and the cross led to Andy Barfoot scoring. In the closing stages an inspirational run by Flain caught out the Overton defence again and this time he netted himself
