Heanor lift the Cup on penalties against Matlock Town

The first game produced few chances but a Heanor mistake was punished with a fine finish to give Matlock an early lead which they held on to, to win 1-0. The second game was very even with chances at both ends but both keepers were in fine form to keep the score at 0-0. In the third game Maltock just needed to avoid defeat whilst Heanor needed to win and although Heanor tried their best to get a goal, the Matlock keeper was in again in good form. Maltock seemed comfortable in seeing the game out until the closing seconds when a reckless challenge resulted in a penalty to give Heanor a 1-0 win and send the final to penalties. Some excellent penalties from both teams which went all the way to sudden death with Heanor winning 6-5 and finally lifting the cup on their third successive appearance.
