The new season of the Comet Stevenage Sunday Football League gets under way in early September and we are pleased to be receiving some financial backing from The Comet this season. Reports will once again appear each week, with more thorough information on The Comet website aswell as the new CSSFL website at www.cssfl.info.

The Committee had a very difficult job this summer with the constitution with so many of the top flight teams folding. With two pulling before a ball was even kicked last season, the Premier Division was left with seven. At the end of the season, Bedwell Athletic and MH Goldsmith failed to renew, whilst Unity Nirankari merged with Probuild, the latter will predominantly make up the new Nirankari Stevenage Reserves side in Division One. This left it with four. Add to that the fact the champions of both Division One (Dun Cow Reserves) and Division Two (Probuild Reserves) couldn't go up due to their first-team being up there and with fourth place in Division One (ProCladd) also folding, it all meant the promotion process was extreme to say the least. Aswell as Almond Tree United (King Pin United), Broadhall and Highview from Division One, sixth-placed AFC Crooked Billet were also put up, along with Division Two runners-up MBDA. It was all too much for Billet, who unfortunately folded as a result. Division One was therefore the teams that remained, whilst the bulk of Division Two were promoted, and so on. It's made hard every year when this happens as some players like to avoid the top flight for an easier life, which isn't known until the player registrations come in during August, which is well after the Hertfordshire FA set the deadline for the constitution to be produced. As usual, we also welcome a few new teams.
