Top two Division One title rivals Maghull and Mossley Hill Athletic in the final of Pyke Cup.

Mossley Hill Ath.'s bid to emulate Cammell Laird as the only side to have lifted the Go2Day West Cheshire League's Pyke Cup for the fourth year in succession, took a step nearer fruition, as the holders and current Division One leaders, progressed to the final of this year's competition, after they emerged 4-3 victors over a resilient Newton, thanks to goals from Connor Anderson, Paul Pearson, Caleb Jones and Nathan Peet. The hosts replied via Ryan Beigan (2) and Alex Stranach, WRITES ERNIE MCDONALD.
In the other semi, Mossley's main Division One title rivals, Maghull, courtesy of a goal apiece from Harrison Worden and Darren Brannigan came out on top after beating FC Bootle 2-0.
On the District scene, Groves Ath's Wirral DFA Junior Cup dreams were scuppered, after they went down 4-1 to Mersey Royal Vets, but there were smiles all round for Neston Nomads Res.. who accounted for Capenhurst Villa Res. 6-5 on penalties in the Wirral DFA Amateur Cup following a 1-1 stalemate. Despite a goal from Ben Smith, Hooton were denied a place in the Haworth & Gallagher Bowl final after they capitulated 3-1 to replies from Runcorn Sports' Stephen Rothwell (2) and Kier Fenlon. The winners of the South Liverpool Res. v West Kirby clash will now provide Runcorn with their opponents in the final.
In the Development Trophy first round, Cammell Laird 1907 U18's overcame Division Three outfit Heswall U23's 3-0 , with goals from Theo McDowell, Denny McHugh and Jack Gordon and it was celebration time also for youngsters, Athletico Blues, who beat another Division Three side, Frodsham Park JFC, by the same scoreline. Thomas Yates, Finn McGovern and Luke Parry were the marksmen.
Division One action saw Litherland Remyca Res. edge closer to mid-table sanctuary, after Rhys Maurer (2) Josh Rice and Elliot Taylor found the net in a fine 4-0 victory at Helsby while fifth placed Mersey Royal recorded their twelfth win of the season, Dillon Thomas, Connor Doyle, Josh Ross and Tom Haynes applying the finishing touches in a 4-0 result over Ellesmere Port Town. Respective marksmen in the 3-3 draw between relegation rivals Chester Nomads Res. and Vauxhall Motors Res., were Jack Delgado, Ben Coward, Brandon Dickinson, Will Mountfield, Matty Welding and Thomas Hoather. Division Two pacesetters, Mallaby went six points clear at the top, and did well to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead, before conceding a crucial equaliser in a 4-4 draw with a well drilled Marshall Res.. Danny McLoughlin (2) Ellis Byrne and Evra Yao netted for the hosts with Harvey Till 2) Jack Ward and Callum Hodgkinson in reply for Marshalls. Elsewhere, South Sefton Borough were undone by a solitary effort from Maghull Res.' Nathan Moffitt.
In Division Three the game between Chester Nomads Res. and Great Sutton was abandoned on 29 minutes due to a serious injury to a Great Sutton player.
