This week in the EC Surfacing Ltd Scunthorpe & District Football League we saw the final fixtures of 2024, which concluded the first half of the season. In Division One goals from Charlie Wright and Corey Price saw Ashby Park Rangers win 2 – 1 against Briggensians whose scorer was Neil Altoft; a Kyle Leatham brace for Beckwood Rovers gave them a 2 – 2 draw with Limestone Rangers for whom Bailey Revill ad Joshua Nichol scored; College Wanderers and Scotter United drew 1 – 1 Scotter took the lead through Lewis Wisdom-Lockwood a goal which looked like giving the all 3 points, however Martin Igoe equalised on 91 minutes to give College a share of the points; The Butchers Arms lost 1 – 0 to Messingham United thanks to a James McVicar goal; in Division Two Chancel were beaten 9 – 1 by New Holland Villa, Sebastian Bennett gave New Holland the lead on 16 minutes he scored again after 18 minutes to make it 2 – 0, Demitri Modeste scored for Chancel after 28 minutes to make it 2 – 1 and it looked like game on, however New Holland then turned on the afterburners when they scored 5 more times before half time, first it was Callum Clements after 31 minutes, the Harry Bowes made it 4 – 1 after 36 minutes, Sam Bolton made it 5 – 1 after 40 minutes when he scored from the penalty spot, Callum Newton got on the score sheet after 42 minutes and on 44 minutes Cole Slater scored to make it 7 – 1 at half time, New Holland eased up a bit in the second half only scoring two more goals the first of those came after 60 minutes when Sebastian Bennett scored to complete his hat trick, Joseph Atkinson completed the scoring on 73 minutes to leave the final score 9 – 1; Eriksson Miranda and Andrew Button scored for Santon as they won 2 – 1 against Brigg Town Colts whose scorer was Harry Day after 65 minutes; a Samuel Dawson hat trick wasn’t enough for Scotter United Reserves as they lost 6 – 3 to a resurgent AFC Crosby thanks to a Josh Davis double and single goals for Brandon Lister, Declan Southern, Aaron Lidgett and Tyler Tolley.
