GREAT SANKEY SEVENS CUP COMPETITION RULES
Except where other provisions in these rules are made, the rules of Association Football and Great Sankey Sevens will apply.
FIRST ROUND
Twelve straight knock out games.
If scores are level at the end of the knockout games then a 5 minute golden goal period will be played. If scores are still level there will then be a penalty shoot out. Each side will take 3 penalties followed by sudden death.
SECOND ROUND
The twelve winners from the first round will form 3 groups of four who will play for the Winners Cup.
The remaining twelve teams will form 3 groups of four who will play for the Supplementary Cup.
The game times in the second round will be 10 minutes one way.
Each team will play each other giving three group games for each side.
SEMI FINALS
The winner from Group A will play the winner from Group B and the winner from Group C will play the best runner up from all the three groups.
FINAL
The winners of the semi finals will then contest the final.
In the group stages ties will be decided by:-
1. Goal difference
2. Goals scored
3. Result of games played against each other.
In the Semi Finals if scores are level after normal time a penalty shoot out will decide the outcome. Each side will take 3 penalties. If there is still no result then sudden death will decide the winner.
If the scores are level in the Final, a one minute break will be followed by a four minute golden goal period. If the game is not decided in this period then the penalty shoot out used in the Semi Finals will come into play.
All games will last 10 minutes one way with allowances made for stoppages as per the normal rules.
DISCIPLINE
Any player who is sent off in a Cup game will not be allowed play in any other games on that day.
On Cup weeks time keeping is vitally important. Any team turning up late will forfeit the game 2-0. No exceptions can be made to this rule.
