Millwall Lionesses Player of the Season Awards ceremony took place on Friday evening before the bank holiday weekend. The club joined together for the first time ever to include the RTC, Development and First Team awards in one night.

It was a very successful and unique season for all involved in the club. The U10s and U12s played against boy’s teams all season in a grassroots league for the first time ever under new directive from the FA. The U14s enjoyed a trip across the pond to represent the club at the Dallas Cup in Texas. Meanwhile, the U16s won their RTC Tier 2 League winning all of their games and reaching the final of the FA Youth Cup for the first time ever in club history.

The Development Team finished 5th in their league while several players including Grace Neville, Brionne Fowle and Georgia Eaton-Collins represented England U17s regularly. To top it off the First Team successfully finished third in the Spring Series campaign, which ran from January-May of 2017 and their highest ever finish in the WSL 2 so far.

The winners of the night were:

First Team Player of the Year- Leigh Nicol

Young Player of the Year- Ella Rutherford

First Team Players Player- Sarah Quantrill

Development Squad Player of the Year- Katie Gilligan

Development Squad Players Player- Sammie Booker

A huge congratulations and well done to everyone who has played a part in the 16/17 season and Spring Series for making it such a successful one for the whole club!
