An administrative error occurred during the clubs pre-season preparation. For one of our players the contractual process was completed, however the players registration form was not submitted to the Football Association.
The player participated in our first game of the season against Watford, following which, the error was discovered by the club and reported to the Football Association (FA). The FA levied a charge, as per league rules, which was heard by the WSL Management Committee last week. The committee made the decision to fine the club and remove the 3 league points from the club. This decision was made at the WSL Management Committee last week.
The players and staff have worked exceptionally hard over the last 12 months and this commitment has shown through the teams on the pitch performance. We finished 3rd in the Spring Series and have been unbeaten in the league this season. The decision to remove the 3 points, and the subsequent impact of this, does not reflect the hard work of the players and staff and the club are disappointed at the outcome.
The club confirm that we will be appealing this decision.
